Routes from Pearson Higher National Qualifications to Degrees

 

Mapped (or articulated) progression routes are clearly defined pathways that show how a Pearson qualification can lead to a specific degree programme. These pathways have been developed through direct engagement between Pearson and universities. 

 

Degree Finder

 

Our Degree Finder  helps students and centres explore these pathways. It shows mapped progression routes, from BTEC Higher National qualifications to degree programmes. Our Degree Finder shows:

 

  • Institutions who have developed these pathways

  • The degree programme(s) they lead to

  • The point of entry (for example, first year or advanced entry)

  • Any agreed academic conditions or requirements

  • Destination countries.

 

Although programmes are mapped, it is important to note that the final admission decision is at the discretion of your chosen institution.

Our University Finder highlights Pearson qualifications that individual universities consider for admission purposes. 

The published recognition information is not exhaustive. Many additional universities will also consider Pearson qualifications, and students are encouraged to research progression options carefully and contact universities directly before applying. Please email progression@pearson.com if you would like our support with this.

 

How recognition differs from mapped progression routes:

 

  • Recognition means a university has indicated it will consider a qualification, often on a case‑by‑case basis.

  • Mapped or articulated routes go further by confirming how the qualification progresses into a specific degree pathway.

 

Recognition of a qualification does not guarantee admission. Learners must meet individual university entry requirements. University policies and entry requirements can change, so learners should always check the most up‑to‑date information directly with the institution. The final admission decision is at the discretion of your chosen institution.
